GK Amplification 3 PRO in the eyes of Marek Bero

Read about Marek Bero - an extraordinary bass player - to learn about his insights and experience with GK Amplifciation 3 PRO

"I vividly remember my first experience with a Gallien-Krueger amp. It was a compact MB150 combo with a 12" speaker, which I used for a party band gig. I borrowed the combo from my double bass mate and was thoroughly impressed with the sound of that little beast. My other experience with the GK brand was at a huge open-air gig, where I used a massive GK rig with a Fusion head and two RBH 4x10 cabinets. That was not only mind-blowing, but also pants-blowing. Of course, GK will always be on my mind as it is Flea's amp of choice, so I was in good company."

“So, when the lovely people at Audified asked me to test drive their newest GK Amplification 3 PRO plugin, which offers a wide variety of signature GK bass sounds, I couldn’t resist. You get three iconic amps (MB 150, 2001 RB and 800 RB), which you can combine with three cabinets (4×10, 2×12 and 1×15). But the coolest feature is the nine industry-standard microphones, which you can adjust in terms of position, angle and distance for each channel. On top of this, you’ll get a straightforward noise gate and compressor that are easy to adjust. The latest addition is a practical tuner and an IR Loader to enhance the sound and add audio depth.”

Original price was: $99.Current price is: $49.

“When trying out new musical equipment, my first instinct is to find distinctive sounds for my three main playing techniques: fingerstyle, slap and plectrum. After spending some time experimenting with the knobs, microphones and combinations of gate and compression, I found my top three settings, which you can check out in the video below. Make your own judgement about the qualities of the GK3PRO plugin!

“Personally, I found it very user-friendly, with all the familiar GK sound characteristics. It adds grit and authenticity to your bass tone, so you won’t need to worry about logistics if you want that amp, cab and mic tone. I think it works exceptionally well with rock and alternative music, but I can also see it being used in various mixes where the bass needs to stand out”
